Tip for Today: Does shampoo really clean your hair?
I heard this from a friend who sells retail health products. Apparently, shampoos sold in retail shop don’t just clean your hair, they can really mess up your body in the long term.
Most shampoos today use Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLS) an abrasive ingredient that is usually found in detergents, floor polish etc. Although it does clean, it can also be absorbed into the body in large quantities over the long term, causing health problems. An alternative to SLS is Ammonium Laureth Sulphate (ALS), which causes the same damage although it is considered safer because of its ‘larger’ molecule – thus less is absorbed.
Another ingredient that should be paid attention to is Formaldehyde a preserving agent that is also carcinogenic. This is widely used in the preservation of dead bodies, animal carcasses etc. I’m not sure what this exactly does to your body, but it does sound like something harmful to me.
Read up the links above, maybe you’ll understand something. So next time you go shopping, think about this. I’ll post later.
