Tip of the Day: Is plain water REALLY plain?
Now this is a tricky issue, since it depends on circumstances, and results may vary. My pharmacist cousin told me this the last time we met, and I feel inclined to share this with all you readers , since I've tried this out myself.
The question is simple, really - Take tap water, boil it, it should then be safe to drink, isn't it? Well, that depends. If you go to the nearest pharmacy and buy yourself a PH tester, try putting a few drops into the water you think is 'safe' to drink. In most cases, it will turn yellow - meaning it's acidic.
pH 3.5 up to 7.0 are normally good for external use, as it cleanses better, but for consumption it's better to drink water with pH level 7 - 10
Now, what does that tell you? Simple - we're drinking the very same thing our body is working hard to remove. Try breathing out (through a straw) into neutral or alkaline water (blue/ purple/ greenish). It will turn yellow, or orange depending on how much you breathe out.
Morale of the story? Get a water filter - but be choosy at it. Most simple one-stage filters won't do it. Remember, we're not talking about filtering gunk or dirt in the water. Even more sophisticated filtering systems can't turn out alkaline water. Bring your PH tester and verify the results yourself. I've even tried in at a shop selling hi-tech water filters, and they all come out yellow. Talk about wasting your money big-time.
Around these parts of the globe, I know only one product sold by a local company that's capable of turning the water blue. It also sells drinking water in small, mineral-water type bottles. If you find any other brands that are good, please leave a comment here - I'd like to start a list to recommend to people (this is really helpful y'know since it's the most basic of things that we consume every day).
Post later. Ciao.
