Tip of the Day: Soy = Fair Skin?
This is a tip for pregnant moms or moms-to be, however, I should caution you to take this with a grain of salt. Why? Because it doesn't make any sense to me, dunno about you guys, though.
It's been said by many people that drinking soy milk, or eating something made predominantly with soy (like tau fu fah, a sort of tofu in syrup) can make the baby's skin fairer and softer. I mean, come on - if both the parents and their families are dark-skinned (like Indians or Africans), can you expect the baby to have skin like Isabella Rosellini? Or Zhang Zi Yi? There's probably a one-in-a-googlezillion-chance of that happening.
This is the problem with traditionally passed down tips, sometimes they don't make any sense at all. Another one is a ban on killing other living beings (animals, mostly) for fear that the baby will not be normal upon giving birth. I agree with not killing animals (they deserve to live too, even poisonous snakes), but sometimes things like this make me think twice.....and then some more.
I'm blogging this not to recommend anything, just telling you readers out there. Remember, take this with a grain of salt - or two. Ciao.
