Tip of the Day: The Two-Pronged Attack
This is something that I've understood over the years from talking to various people who are more 'knowledgeable' than myself. I've found that there are two types of battle that we have to fight in order to keep our health, assuming that we eat nutritiously and according to the food pyramid - that's HERE
The two most constant attack to our body's health are:
1. Acid Attack - Believe it or not, our body contains a lot of acid that it is working hard to expel. Most toxins that we secrete or expel are acidic, even the air that we exhale is acidic. While some of the acid does some good, most of it degrades our health.
Solution: I try to drink some alkaline water (there's a good alkaline water filter HERE, but it's not in English) every day, to balance out and neutalise the effects acid can have on my body. If it isn't available, I drink water that's neutal in PH, that helps to dilute acid - it's basic chemistry, really.
2. Free Radicals - These result from our exposure to the environment - the (quality of) air we breathe (pollutants), and also the fact that our body creates some free radicals by synthesizing the Oxygen for the body's needs (I guess that's why pure oxygen can kill us) . The danger is that these free radicals can affect us up to the molecular level - our DNA - which can cause mutations (not the good sort).
Solution: I go for antioxidants - there are a lot of food with anti-oxidant properties (i.e garlic). Perhaps the most well known vitamins with antioxidant properties are vitamins E and C, so eat foods that are rich with those. I also supplement with vitamins and minerals (selenium is good)
Caution: This isn't meant to be an exhaustive list, as there may be other things that affects our body on a daily basis that I've yet to know (I'm not a doctor, you know). This is just a simple guide for healthy living, therefore treat this as so.
Until next time - Ciao.
